Times have been tough in the transport industry since the GFC, but for the owners of Intertruck, a relentless focus on costs is paying off. Comer and Robyn Board, who each own 50% of the truck import, sales, service and distribution business, said the GFC hit hard, especially when they were forced to reduce staff numbers from 70 to 55.

Comer said: “We worked hard on improving performance after the GFC to become highly efficient. We are now about as lean as possible, which fortunately means we are now in the position of thinking about rehiring.

At present, Intertruck is focused on growing geographically and in the product range they offer but see succession planning as part of their long-term strategy
